Collaboration Spring 2008

PROPOSAL

Connecting Kids Globally Across the Curriculum

What

Our project will be based on children connecting and sharing globally across the curriculum (art, music, literature, dance/movement) using audio, visual and web conferencing technology tools.

This project will demonstrate how a US classroom could interact with classrooms around the world to show and share information and ideas while learning new technologies and new ways to process information.

Using resources such as e-pals, students and teachers will be able to reach audiences that they can compare, contrast, learn and share experiences across the curriculum.

This is an opportunity for students to implement technology and ideas in all learning environments just outside of the classroom, this is also an opportunity to connect with special subject teachers to link to the classroom.

Why

The purpose of this assignment is to give students an opportunity to interact with children around the globe to help them prepare for a changing environment and collaboration with others helps to build a well rounded student who will be able to think critically and from a global perspective due to a changing environment.

This collaboration can benefit students by allowing them to become better communicators, build leadership relationships and teach them to work well with others, and become more aware of their cultural surroundings.

Some key elements of the EEV that will be addressed in this project include:

Diversity

More capable students can create longer and more detailed responses, and less capable students can create shorter and less detailed responses.

How

Students will connect with one another through a Global Collaboration forum through the following website http://globaleducation.ning.com/profile/Teri. in order to gain knowledge about students in other areas of the world.

The participants will be from Unites States, Europe, Africa, Asia, and South American classrooms.

The Global Education Collaboration will be the area where we can find classrooms interested in being a part of the collaborative global project.

Who

The participators will be:

Interested students and teachers from the countries listed above and our classrooms students will be the participants for this project.
