Chivy Sok Human Rights & Child Labor Abuses
Long Island Workshops, April 2, 4, 2005

On April 2nd, 2005, Chivy Sok came to Long Island at the invitation of Searingtown High School in Herricks, New York.  She came to share her incredible experiences as a young child growing up in Cambodia.  Chivy is a survivor of the Cambodian genocide in the 1970's, often referred to as the "Killing Fields."  Today, Chivy Sok is one of the most passionate and articulate activists against human rights abuses globally and child labor abuses in particular.

Shortly after the war in Vietnam ended, the countries immediately surrounding the war zone, were left in a state of anarchy.Chivy Sok lived through the Cambodian genocide. She recalls vividly the events of her childhood and how it shaped her adult life as a crusader against children's human rights abuses
