The 5 day event is a jam packed bundle of collaborative project-based learning. That may sound like a mouthful of pedagogical hyperbole, but each word tells you what these five days are all about. The joy and the "juice" of an intense collaboration is wonderful. The concept that "none of us is as smart (or talented) as all of us" was experienced first-hand by everyone who attended - students, aides, mentors, administrators, friends and family. The Camp 2004 schedule may give you a clue to the activities during these five intense days. Better yet, visit the Camp 2004 web site (as well as the "official" camp web sites from previous summers) and see the final products from the 5 days at the Southampton College campus of Long Island University in August, 2004. At this site you will experience, first hand, what 5 collaborative teams accomplished. These five collaborative teams consisted (mostly) of students, either just beginning or just ending their first year. As well as the Camp 2004 Finalies Page you can visit the Camp 2003, Camp 2002, Camp 2001 and Camp 2000 project pages and to see the output of these other collaboration-intense 5-day events. |
