"Bridging the Perspectives and Developmental Needs of All Participants in Curriculum-Based Telementoring Programs" by D.Kevin O'Neill and Judith B Harris |
|||||||
The word "telementoring" in the title was the trigger that made me interested in this research article. I imagined there are lessons I could learn from this experiencial research. Since I am beginning a new project with Irv Roth that is much about telementoring, I expected this to be a useful read; it was.
The article described a telementoring model slightly different than the Irv Roth/Montana model as I imagine it.
From the research article to be expanded E-learning allows deeper visits - exploit it long-term curriculum based relationships - this is Irv's model too if one considers 15 class sessions a long-term relationship. Perhaps turn that relationship into a long term relationship by automatic Manhasset membership or links or priveleges etc. Encourage Montana students to invite visitors or larger audience Involve the students in archiving activities - build the database
Article is based on volunteer mentoring but still relevant how many of the conclusions can be extended to the Irv Roth mentoring model even though the study was done with volunteer 4-1 mentoring as an aprentis Most important point: As goes the Student - teacher relationship so goes the education (the effect of the mentoring).
see ZEDTV from Canada; posssible neat multi video interactive conference with Irv and multiple classrooms. enables montana plus other remote location - larger audience, remote audience, two mentors, panel needs resources as follows tv production student video archiving, transcribing, cataloging irv roth Links to other Holacaust, Irv-chosen sites needs a web master after I'm gone. Macromedia newsletter containg the ZEDTV spotlight - done with Flash I'll bet Brian's expertese could it. I could do such wonderful things with a Brian (as I imagine) and a Karen (as I imagine)
