About Me

I am certified to teach Social Studies 7-12. I first started teaching at the Ross School as a high school learning specialist. I then taught 5th-8th grade Social Studies at Stella Maris Regional School for two years. This past year, I worked at Breakwater Design, a web and graphic design firm. Presently, I am working for a new magazine VOX.

I believe that our job as teachers is to create lifelong learners in our students. We can do this by exciting, inspiring, encouraging, and supporting our students. We need to differentiate our lessons and incorporate student centered, experiential hands-on learning. As teachers, we need to make what we are teaching relevant to our students lives. If our students do not understand why they are learning something, than they will have no motivation to learn it.

Technology is a wonderful tool to use in order to attain this goal of creating lifelong learners. By using technology, teachers have a million and one ways to inspire creativity, to excite, and to motivate their students. For middle school social studies, I found that the best uses of technology were the SmartBoard, online Internet activities, and digital photography.
