Key to learning is ownership - a learning story.
In September, or early October , I sought out our district tech specialists to aid me in mounting video clips from Hollywood movies onto my power points and on to the web. It was a idea that had it's roots years back in Mineola when teammates, John Collins and Riki Nemser, and I were brainstorming and pipe dreaming about creating a presentations that would do the work we intended, as well mesmerize the class. Creating, imagining, innovating
(HM6) Create a memorable entertaining presentation. Long before I knew what a shared vision was, we had one. Applying past knowledge to new situations (HM15) To get the technology- the material to give life, to the idea. ( Jerry Saltz) I needed knowledge and help. I had to through four people until one showed me his PowerPoint with great kindness and pride in an effort to set me straight so to speak. When I told him about Tony Brewer, PresentationZen, Powerful PPT
and the “: "Takahashi Method" his eyes spun. I told him about the research, as best I could, regarding how kids respond 40% more when multimedia is used and how we need to reach the “Digital Natives.” (I made that number up and I still feel bad about it) but all one has to do is visit Tony’s site for the research.
I did finally beat the problem through thinking interdependently (HM14), trial and error, risk taking, months of work, experimentation, persistence(HM1) , striving for accuracy (HM11) creating, imagining and by innovating. I was forced, when eliciting advice and help, to think and communicate with clarity and precision (HM2).My metal model and original ideas often required change and adaptation.(MM)
*Some of the movies used inside of the ppts and created in Moviemaker or Imovie are here.... (visit Mesopotamia for an example) and there are two attempts at launching PPT(egypt)
