My own/personal philosophy that drives my learning and my long term vision for my work and for my personal learning.
TEAM! The importance of the integration of technology into the Art curriculum has become apparent.
AnAdvocaate for change!
My reflection and thoughts regarding the Klye Peck conference that I attended serves to evidence and attest to my ability to (HM16) not only remain open to continuous learning and (HM5) develop an awareness of human aspect and cultural dimension of the educational activity that I'm involved in but to incorporate these ideas into my pedagogy.(G1-7) I site that by, "developing individual instructional strategies (ST) for my students at risk," as Kyle Peck mentioned will help us system wide to reach kids on their level and at their pace. Using an infusion of technology into my class with a flexibility writing the paper helped foment ideas regarding how I should apply the ideas Peck exposed. It helped me ultimately understand Kyle Peck and my own thoughts. It caused contemplation and reevaluation and organizing and assessing the ideas and my own thoughts HM(9).It also opened my eyes to the discrepancies that our students at risk and Latino population having no interest or relations ship to the studio art experience not to mention Western Art History reached motivated...
(HM5)Since the conference and my reflective piece, I've continued be an advocate for the use of technology and individual instuctional plans afforded by a the constructivisst project bassed classroom envireonment that indirectly at least my attendenc as the Symposium helped foster. Pushing my multimedia ppt presentations (TL) on my peers, putting them on the school network, attaching it my my school responsibiliies that therefore bring them to the attention of the Superintendent and under his direct suritiny.( HM12-HM10, ST)and the web
relating to the digital divide and natives, and I've begun participating in informal discussions and formally address a group at ASETT. so that with colleagues at my school and in the field can have a dialogue about how this divide might be addressed (TL). A particular idea, the Student Virtual Museum and to produce a student class website, that charts what we/the across districts in Long Island, and compare that data to socio-economic status of the student population

This site evidences my ability to identify and apply relevant

Team development, system thinking, the philosophy of learning and thougth - educational philosophy. The educational philosophy that we addressed was relatively new ground for me. My degree not being in education but in the Art, an MFA with an Art history minor enabled me to avoid, to my determent any real background in child psychology or any Education philosophy. This coupled with an early disdain for “officers” and an embracing of the individualistic foot solider in the trenches, the classroom, left me ironically open to the lectures. Schools that Learn as well as the segment on the Habits of the Mind were, refreshing and stimulating to the point that I really regretted my missed the classes. Specifically I‘m intrigued by the way learning and personal growth are analyzed and broken down to allow for one to further concentrate on meta-cognition and to build a different mental models regarding one’s own growth and attitudes towards teaching. This is Personal mastery in terms of mastering ones self.
The System aspect- I became aware of the living aspect of a system. Seeing and thinking of my friendship networks, my family, my class and school community as systems with shared visions or in need of one. The failed system I work in. The frustrations of being helpless to change it became uncomfortably obvious.
In the technology arena I learned Dreamweaver. Specifically how to start a web page - an Html doc., build a site off an index page, use tables and modify the cells, manipulating the cells’ size, location and shape. I developed the ability to add images, text and insert tables inside of the main table to create a visually dynamic page. In these pages I could create links, linking back to the home page, other pages within the site as well as linking to any site. I developed a real confidence involving how to insert images and create rollovers. I built a gif animation using Photoshop and Fireworks that I then incorporated these into an html web page for my Surf club and our collaboration. I used Flash (poorly) to create small animations by using the shape and motion tweening component. With out the constant repetition I was often not able to repeat myself.
All of this I accomplished through trial and error. Whatever tools, tutorials or lessons, I applied and reapplied them to hone my skill. Problems arose but repetition and practice conquered most with the aid of the fine technical mentors, Donna and Faye.
