The Just Imagine site can be used in a number of ways. On this page, we have listed some activities for using this site with students. In addition to having students complete some of the activities mentioned, feel free to use the site in other ways you might imagine.

 

Suggestions for how to use the Art Section
  • Students view Artists’ work and read biographies and then do Quiz for each Artist
  • Students view Artist’s work and explain similarities and differences of paintings created by that Artist
  • Students discuss differences among styles of the three Artists featured on the site
  • Students view painting and write about it (what their eye focuses on, explain what is happening in the picture, what happened right before or after the picture, etc)
  • Students study a painting and complete the coloring book activity for that picture
  • Students look at virtual tour of Pollock’s studio and discuss what they saw
  • Students put together the Puzzle activity in Pollock section
  • Students read story and create a project based on the story

 

Suggestions for how to use the Poetry Section
  • Students read poem on site and illustrate it
  • Students read poem and react to the poem on the QuickTopic site
  • Students match a picture which best illustrates a poem as a whole or lines from a poem
  • Students write a poem and another student illustrates it or chooses pictures to illustrate it
  • Students choose a sound clip which expresses the feeling or mood conveyed by a poem

 

Suggestions for how to use the Life Stories Section
  • Students watch Life Stories interviews and take notes
  • Students watch Life Stories interviews and write an essay about the challenges each person had to face
  • Students watch Life Stories interviews to listen for and write about the differences between America and the country described within the interview
  • Students pose questions to Leonida or Peter in a QuickTopics area
  • Students create their own Life Story. Two ways:
    • MovieMaker- scan in pictures from their childhood and put pictures to music to create movie of child’s life
    • Interview- students work in pairs interviewing each other. The students figure out the story they want to tell, write a script of questions that will be asked, practice the interview, and then videotape the interview to create a Life Story movie similar to the ones displayed on the site
