I spent a large amount of time working on the Macromedia software, which I had never even heard of prior to this program. I have become confident in using not only that software, but digital cameras and videos, the Smart board, Microsoft software, and many other technologies along the way. I hope you enjoy looking at some of the work I have completed this year.
Working with the staff at Stella Maris this year has taken on a completely new professional meaning for me. Being able to apply the readings from Schools That Learn and the “Habits of Mind,” really helped when creating the learning environment that I envisioned. Having the privilege of helping teachers with all levels of technological experience, made me stretch beyond the average classroom lesson and move into the mental model of meeting the needs of learners with different abilities. Knowing that a learner’s background or experience is the primary source of previous knowledge, the first step was to gather information on what current level they were at, as well as, receiving input on what they would like to learn. After listening, guiding, and taking advisement, I then asked them to envision given scenarios with a lesson that they were currently working on or planned on teaching in the near future. Once they realized the possibilities, accompanied by the reassurance that I would be there to assist them through the process, teachers who had never turned on a computer within the school day were elated at the possibilities.
